TIN was established in 1994 in response to Nigeria’s downward spiraling reputation and the increasing effects of corruption in the ranks of our political class. The ravages of corruption had become deeply rooted in both the public and private sectors following the foray of the military in the political arena. By 1994, corruption was the norm in Nigeria rather than the exception.
TIN was thus registered as a Trust with the Corporate Affairs Commission with a group of eminent persons acting as pioneer Trustees.
